San Dimas High - Principal's Message

Principal's Message

Principal Joe Macdonald and SDHS mascot Sammy the Saint both giving thumbs up
As Principal of San Dimas High School, it gives me great pleasure to welcome all of our new and returning students, parents, faculty and staff to San Dimas! San Dimas High is a great school with a rich tradition of excellence in academics, athletics and performing arts programs, as well as exemplary parent and community involvement. SDHS is recognized as a California Distinguished School.
My role and vision for San Dimas is to keep those amazing traditions alive, while expanding on our exceptional learning environment. My philosophy of education comes from 20 years of experience in education as a classroom teacher, English Language Learner coach, middle and high school administrator.
To make the transition back to school seamless, it is important over the first two weeks of the year for both parents and students to familiarize themselves with the Aeries student portals. Aeries is an excellent tool for tracking progress of coursework and grades. It is also an effective way of staying in contact with teachers when questions arise.
In addition, during the first and second week of school, please make sure to read the curriculum letter each teacher will provide. The letters clarify grading policies and course expectations for all classes.
Our webpage ( is a great resource for information and is currently being updated for the 2017/18 school year. Current school news, daily announcements, upcoming activities, tweets, contact information and links to PTSA can all be accessed through our website.
I am extremely excited about the possibilities that lie ahead for San Dimas High School and its students! Thank you for supporting San Dimas High School and our students. I look forward to meeting all of you and wish you the best for this upcoming school year!
Joe Macdonald
