Athletic Director Bonomo wins CIF honor
Nicki Bonomo has been honored as a “Champion for Character” by the CIF Southern Section.
A Diamond Ranch school administrator nominated Bonomo out of thousands of possible recipients in the Southern Section, even though Diamond Ranch does not even play in the same league as SDHS.
"Coach Bonomo exemplifies the very finest in sportsmanship, character, integrity and athletics," Principal Michael Kelly said. "The person who nominated her worked with her in the past in our league and noticed that she was still helpful even after the nominator’s school moved to another league. Nicki knows her way around CIF and is always willing to help anyone that calls."
Bonomo was the President of the Foothill-Citrus Athletic Directors' Association 2009-2010, the SDHS Teacher of the Year Fall 2008, and the 2007 recipient of the Norm MacKenzie Award by the California State Athletic Directors Association, which is given to outstanding athletic directors with less than 4 years’ tenure. Under her direction, the athletics department installed a training room specifically outfitted for female athletes, whose teams have been CIF contenders multiple times.
